What political action can I take?
Contact your MPP and tell him or her that you are counting on them to follow through on the McGuinty government's promise to support quality education. How do I reach my MPP? Who’s my MPP? Click here to download a sample letter to your MPP [PDF document]
Write "Letters to the Editor" Get the message out that the key issue in this round of bargaining is quality education. This strike is about smaller classes and having more faculty so that each and every college student gets more time, more attention, and more feedback. Unfortunately, management wants to "spin" our concerns to say that we want a lighter workload and even less time with students. Faculty aren't asking for less work or a shorter work week. Faculty are asking for more time to spend with individual students. We need to communicate this to the public. Consider the Toronto Star article "College strike looms for 9000 profs" which claims that faculty want a "lighter workload". When you see these kinds of misunderstandings, write a letter to the editor to explain the quality education issues that this strike is really about.
